Gemma - 2012 round up

Wednesday, 12 December 2012

I have been really disappointed with my weight loss this year. I wanted to start 2013 and be at my goal of -100 lbs. I've lost a total of 79.5 lbs since January 2011 and I know if I had put just a little more effort in I could have reached my initial goal and moved on to the next one.

I've only lost 22 lbs this year but you know what, I've had a really good year. My appearance drastically changed in February, you could really see a difference in the way I looked and my confidence grew so much. I went out and partied like it was going out of fashion. I went to two festivals this summer, went to Paris, met some of my favourite musicians and actors, got a full time jobs and I don't think I've had a free weekend since the Jubilee. I've also started dating which I would never have done before losing weight.

(despite the weight loss I'm still rocking the hand on hip look, it's a classic though, right?)
What I'm trying to get across (in a very non articulate way) is that there is so much more to life than what's on the scales. Yes, it would have been nice to be at -100 lbs right now but I've had a lovely year and 2013 will be even better. I'm hoping for a fresh start next year, I will be strictly following the Weight Watchers plan from the 1st of January onwards and I know 2013 will be the year I reach my ideal weight.

The photo above makes me realise that I may not be where I want to be in terms of weight loss but I'm very happy with all the other aspects of my life. I've lost nearly 6 stone, I know two years is a pretty slow time frame to do this but I'm proud of what I have achieved.

Hope you all get closer to reaching your goals in 2013 and thank you for being there for me in 2012.

  3. Aside from the fact that six stone in 2 years is AMAZING(!), its not about how long it takes, it about doing it! I know some people lost faster than me but if I hadn't indulged now and then I never would have had the will power to stick with it. That time goes by anyway so you've got to live your life and you're absolutely stunning! Well done Gem! xx

    1. Thanks Nicole, I agree. If I hadn't gone a little wild this summer there would have been no point in losing all the weight. Have to have some fun right? x

  7. Such a wonderful achievement Gem! You look fantastic :) I've been pretty rubbish with my weightloss, keep going up and down on the same half a stone which is frustating but I'm really going to step it up a gear come January xx

  10. Be kind to yourself hon! That's an amazing achievement and you should be really proud. I know some people seem to drop weight really quickly, but it does get harder as you get smaller, and 22lb is a huge amount when you consider there are people like me who struggle to even get off the starting blocks. It's not a speed dieting competition, and you've done tremendously. So what if it's taken two years? You've done it AND maintained a diet-life balance which is what counts. So give yourself a big hug. You look bloody gorgeous xxx

  15. you've done so well gem! you may think that taking two years to lose 6 stone is a long time but this way you're so much more likely to keep it off for good. plus as you get smaller you see smaller losses each week. diets are frankly boring as hell so at least you've enjoyed yourself even if you've not completely met your goal. you look totally stunning & are such an inspiration xx

  16. you look fantastic! I wish I could lose weight. I don't think I'll ever do it. I had the will power to stop smoking but I feel like I'll always be big no matter what.

  18. This is absolutely brilliant. I know exactly how you feel having not reached your goal weight by the end of 2012. I wanted to have lost 50lb this year and have got to 35lb. I feel much better in myself after it and have realised there's no rush to lose the weight. Keep up the good work! We'll get there eventually!

  22. Whenever I try and lose weight, about four days later I get sick. I've tried losing weight, and I can't! Don't recommend a site, or I report it because they never give any information.
