Shake Up Your Mornings

Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day, and for good reason. Lots of studies found that people who skip breakfast are disproportionately likely to have problems with concentration, metabolism, and weight. If you skip breakfast you could be hindering your chances of weight loss or maintaining a healthy lifestyle.


I'm pretty boring when it comes to breakfast and I tend to stick to Weetabix with skimmed milk every morning. Weetabix are only 3 ProPoints for two, it doesn't get much lower than that for a cereal. I don't need to weigh anything because they come in portions and it gives me enough energy to keep me going until lunch time. I don't have much time in the morning so having a healthy breakfast needs to be something I can do quickly.

I've tried to vary what I was eating in the morning this week and I've managed to have some tasty but low ProPoint value foods. If I know I'm going out for lunch or there is a training course with a buffet in work I will opt for a low point breakfast like a yogurt and fruit so I can save points for later in the day. If I wake up late I grab a cereal bar and fruit to eat on the train or if it's the weekend I will make my favourite 'One Pan Fry Up' because I have more time and can dip into my weekly ProPoints budget.

I've also tried to decide what I'm having for breakfast the night before so I can track it all on the android phone app before I leave the house. Being organised has meant that I don't get bored of what I'm eating and helped me to stay more engaged with the Weight Watchers plan.

  1. I'm a big weetabix fan. Every morning I have 2 weetabix with 180ml skimmed milk and 5g of sugar. It takes a lot to persuade me to have anything else!

  2. I'm terrible for skipping breakfast, but then end up wanting a biscuit with my coffee when I get to work. I should plan to take some healthy breakfast items with me, that little lunch box is so cute :)

    1. It was from Paperchase :) Ceareal bars and fruit are handy because you can at them on your commute or when you get into work. You could always make something before you go to bed at night if you struggle with time in the morning x

  3. Im awful at eating when I get up but I always make sure I take breakfast with me in that case.im particularly going thro a weetabix craving period at the mo,but I have five!!Im pregnant tho,so I reckon it's allowed!xx

  4. I like Weetabix - its so easy to accidentally have a huge portion with normal cereal so love how it is already portioned and not full of sugar and other rubbish. x

  5. I love weetaxbix. Haven't actually had any in ages. I generally have 35g oats (3pps) with 120 mls unsweetened almond milk (0pps), some fruit (0pps), maybe a little honey or maple syrup (1pp for 2 teaspoons) and sometimes some nuts for 1 or 2 extra pps.

    I've been trying to shake up my breakfasts because I was eating porrdige most mornings and felt I needed mix it up a bit more. The other day I had peanut butter on toast and I made bircher museli last weekend as well to take on the train with me some mornings.

    I love making scrambled egg on toast or pancakes on a weekend for breakfast.

    I would actually advise if there is a going to be a buffet later in your day to eat a bigger more substantial breakfast. If you go to a buffet hungry you are more likely to eat more. Even if you've saved your weekly PPs, you could get a little carried away. Eat something with protein in it, it keeps you fuller for longer. It might stop you reaching for the biccies and cakes at the buffet and sticking to the salads and sandwiches. Anyone who struggls to keep full after breakfast should eat something with protein in like eggs or nuts on porridge in the morning.

  6. I have Oat So Simple porridge sachets every morning. I think they're about 5 points including milk. They're so yummy and keep me filled up unilt lunch (ish) xxx

  7. I do Intermittent Fasting so I don't ever eat breakfast, and have actually found that although I eat the same amount of calories as I would have if I ate breakfast, I often feel a lot fuller and more satisfied than I ever did when I ate breakfast. :)
    If you wanted me to, I'd love to do a guest post explaining about Intermittent Fasting a bit more - as it's been a great lifestyle choice for me and I've lost heaps of weight by doing it! :)

  9. I tend to have a Weight Watchers Fromage Frais yoghurt for breakfast when I have the time, delicious and I can devour them in a couple of seconds! I am missing toast though! I love bread, but it really doesn't seem to like me or my hips!

  10. Before, I always skipped breakfast especially when I have a class early in the morning and woke up late. But I noticed that it makes me weak and unhealthy. I always feel like I don't have much energy to do things. Plus, I'm prone to being sick when I'm not taking meals regularly. So I've decided that it would be better for me to eat on time. Breakfast, lunch and a light dinner, every meal is important to our health. I'll just say no to skipping of meals. :)
